Dr. Antoni Guash
Born in 1958, Dr. Antoni Guasch is a research engineer focusing on modelling, simulating and optimizing dynamic systems, especially continuous and discrete-event simulation of industrial processes. He received his Ph.D. from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 1987. After a postdoctoral period at California State University (USA), he became a lecturer at the UPC (www.upc.edu). He is now a lecturer in the Department of Systems Engineering, Automation and Industrial Information Technology at the UPC where he is teaching modelling, simulation and optimization courses. He is head of the industrial simulation and optimization area at inLab FIB (UPC). Since 1990, Prof Guasch has led 45 industrial projects related to the modelling, simulation and optimization of processes in the nuclear, aerospace, textile, transport, inter modality, car manufacturing, beer, water, steel, pharmaceutical, health and banking industries. Dr. Guasch has also been the scientific coordinator and researcher in seven scientific projects. He has participated in four EU projects, taking the role of partner leader in two of them. He has also been involved in organizing local and international simulation conferences and has contributed to several modelling and simulation books.
Dr. Adriano Solis
Dr. Adriano O. Solis teaches and conducts research in the areas of operations/logistics/supply chain management and decision sciences. He is currently the Director of the School of Administrative Studies at York University in Toronto, Canada.
Professor Solis has previously taught undergraduate and graduate courses in business, mathematics, and industrial engineering programs at the University of the Philippines, the University of Alabama, Oregon State University, Millikin University (Illinois), and the University of Texas at El Paso. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Calabria (Italy), where he has continued to supervise management engineering graduate students in their research work.
His teaching is enhanced by industry experience, including having been Vice President and Division Manager for Professional Products and Systems in the Philippine operations of Philips Electronics, the Netherlands-based multinational company.
He serves as General Co-Chair of the 18th International Conference on Modeling and Applied Simulation [MAS 2019], to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, in September 2019. He will also be Program Co-Chair of the 12th International Workshop on Applied Modeling and Simulation (WAMS 2019) in Singapore in November 2019. He has earlier served as MAS General Co-Chair (MAS 2014, Bordeaux, France; MAS 2017, Barcelona, Spain; MAS 2018, Budapest, Hungary) or Program Co-Chair (MAS 2015, Bergeggi, Italy; MAS 2016, Larnaca, Cyprus), and as Program Chair of the 2013 Summer Computer Simulation Conference (SCSC 2013, Toronto, Canada).
